About us
Our Objective
To run a Ministry through a mobile question, answers, discussion forum, and an online prayer request facility.
To broadcast audios to persons interested to hear more about the Good News of Salvation.
To upgrade and tap into the layperson/student's skills and talents to deliver their expertise for the Lord's work via a virtual online learning.
To make the Bible more available and more understood through Bible translation. To reach out to donors who are willing to purchase Bibles to be distributed to certain parts of Africa so that they may learn the Word of God in the best translation and their tribal languages. (Currently, the closest Bible translations in Africa are limited to one translation in some languages.)
To assist those with health issues by directly connecting them to one of our sister organizations.
We believe that Scriptura Ministries can play a part in hastening the soon return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Our History
At the turn of the century, that is, the year 2000, Scriptura Academia was formed and operated for the first time right in the Theology building of Helderberg College in Somerset West. The education program enriched and trained the layperson with a two-year Diploma in Evangelism. The time chosen for this training was mainly on Sundays, and more than 30 laypersons registered for the program to improve their preaching and theological skills.
The two Theology graduates of Helderberg College who initiated the Scriptura Academia program were current Masters students in Theology and Biblical linguistics at Stellenbosch University, namely, Lucian and Leander Chalice. They felt a burden to tap the talents of the layperson to enrich the church by in-and-out reach. Many of the graduates from the program began preaching in unentered territories and prisons, which resulted in many baptisms into the faith.
In 2001 Lucian expanded the program to Johannesburg and was granted permission by Professor Tony Links to operate the training of laypersons at Technicon RSA.
The program was even more decentralized by training over one hundred laypersons at particular churches in the Johannesburg region.
Since the ministries were self-sustaining and not run as a business, in 2003, Lucian returned to Seoul, Korea as an associate professor at Baekseok University. Simultaneously, Leander taught at Sahmyook University. Scriptura-style ministries influenced by Leander that operated on Sundays were adopted at Sahmyook University in Seoul and are still running to date. At present, Professor Leander Chalice lectures at Helderberg College, Somerset West, in the Old Testament department.
In September 2015, Professor Lucian Chalice who is a who currently teaches at Seojeong University in Yangju in South Korea, made contact with his other brother, Wayne. Through God's leading, they saw the opportunity to employ current technology to reach people they otherwise would not have been able to reach. Due to the urgent times, both felt the urge to commence an evangelism and online prayer forum for "truth-seekers." All denominations remain actively part of this forum, from Christian to Moslem to Buddhist. Wayne Johnson, who served as a Media Evangelist for Scriptura, added a new method of broadcasting AUDIOS to folk who have not heard the everlasting gospel. A question and answer forum was formulated and is still being processed from the first series that commenced in January 2017.
Much gratitude to a qualified professional support team who have been assisting the Ministries needs mentioning: Trudie Erasmus, Mark Visser, Joseph Majema, Cornelius du Preez, Winston Cluff, Victor Mazalu, Garland Cairncross, Emma Gondwe, Elroy Solomon, Annabel Solomon, Marc Abrahams, Mona Mondago, Marishca Charles and Ahn Jae Jung. They are professionals and specialists in religion, counseling, physiotherapy, social welfare, technology, supply chain, communications, marketing, editing, and a Korean student.
The name "Scriptura" echoes down the corridors of time and is a reminder of what occurred during the Reformation. Persecution will be rekindled, and "Sola Scriptura" is to take precedence over man-inflicted laws that will be enforced upon the world in the near future.
